10 Questions we ask every band...
The Shake Up
|
1). What are the names of your members?
Me (Justin) on vocals, Robert on guitar, Manny on guitar, Anthony on bass, and Jason on drums 2). When did you all get together? Rob and I have been in bands before together. The last time we jammed in an actual band was in 06. We parted ways for awhile, we tryed to get things going but it just never went anywhere. 4 years of not really speaking much to each other came around and I got a call from Rob. He said he wanted to try and get something going and he wanted me to be a part of it. So we met up at a local park and started jamming out. Within that hour we had already had a solid song down. It was kind of a sign that we can still do this and do it well. So we hit the drawing board and started scouting out some people to be a part of this with us. 3). How did you all meet? We all met through friends. We have had a few line up changes since the start of this band. But we have all met through friends one way or another. 4). How would you describe your music? Fun, but sincere at the same time. Musically, it is upbeat, catchy and melodic. Vocally, I try not to over exaggerate lyrics, and try to keep it sincere. We just want you to remember each song and bounce around haha. 5). Who are your major influences? Our musical influences range from punk, hardcore, pop-punk, emo, indie. We’re just all across the map. You name it, one of us is bound to like it. With that being said, I think we all appreciate catchy songwriting. I think the pop punk bands of the early 2000's we really respect. And some of the new up and comers in the scene, (The Wonder Years, The Story So Far, etc.) 6). Complete the sentence: One day as a band we hope to… One day as a band we hope to tour in Japan. : ) 7). Why should people listen to your music? Because of our philosophy that we will always stand behind. Our philosophy is to write solid, catchy, music. Have fun, put on a good show. Most of all, be a sincere and honest band. I try to write about what I see and what I go through and try not to over exaggerate. It just works for us to be who we are. We just want people to easily relate to our music. We hope all of you can!! 8). What are your plans for the upcoming year? We want to start doing weekend tours up and down California. If we can get that going, I think we would be really satisfied. 9). What albums/EP’s have you released so far and where can people get hold of them? We have our First EP we released in may of '11 titled "Best Kept Secret" We have it on iTunes, amazon, & rhapsody. But the distributer we went through screwed up on the genre and album art so we have it through Bandcampright now, we love that site so much!! You can even grab a T Shirt on there if you like. 10). Finally – say something profound that will make everyone think: Hmm…as Saves The Day said it best.
