Up Against Us

Mae from 4 piece alternative rock/pop/punk band Up Against Us recently got in touch about their latest track, World Undone. Formed when members Harry and Mae decided to turn their acoustic project into an electric one, the guys are setting out on a mission to develop their sound and bring it to the masses. Influenced by the likes of Papa Roach, Black Stone Cherry and You Me At Six, this promises to be a track well worth checking out.
Opening with a crunchy guitar line you’re immediately lured into the mix, a female vocal line coming in to continue to build things up around you and really get you involved in things. The different layers of vocals which build up continue to add more to the mix, developing the sound as it grows into one which is both strange and yet catchy and powerful at the same time. The strange element may sound odd, but when you listen to it I think it becomes apparent – it’s all part of the mix which is there which encourages you to listen harder to make sure you don’t miss anything. The true power of the band is revealed in the chorus though as we’re thrown into a catchy mix of soaring vocals, rumbling bass rhythms, rolling drums and hammering guitar lines. Throughout the track there’s not a single point where things are over done or over the top, instead forming a track which is easy to listen to, accessible and powerful throughout.
Up Against Us are moving out into a market which is reasonably saturated at the moment, but I’m sat wondering whether they might just achieve it given the calibre of this track. There’s moments which are emotional, moments which are catchy, moments which make you listen harder and moments which simply sit you back and let you know it’s all ok. Given that this is just one track it’s impossible to say, but what I can say with 100% certainty is that I enjoyed this track and look forward to hearing much more from these guys!
